Miami’s Viscaya Gardens

Viscaya Museum & Gardens

As some of you may know, I had my camera stolen from me last month in Miami Beach by some crackhead. It’s a long story, involving the beach, booze, Blue, British breasts, bicycles built for two, etc.  Well, maybe not the bicycles.  Anyway, I won’t go into it here.  ;)

I’ve used the down time since to re-design this website, mistakenly losing most of my previous posts in the proccess. So I’m kinda starting from scratch. Which is fine. I’ve always been a fan of fresh starts.

I just received my new photo equipment, and decided to break it in with a trip to the Viscaya Museum. I had never been to Miami’s famed National Historic Landmark site before, but had heard it was an incredible place. The rumors were true.

As you pull into the complex, you wind down a narrow road surrounded by thick, tall, and lush green trees. You already feel like you’ve entered into another world when you see the 100 year old Posiden-like statues peeking out from the green forest that surrounds you. Didn’t a gang of senior citizens just try to run me off the highway on I-95 a moment ago? Where am I? What is this magical place? I can’t be in Miami anymore…

Viscaya Museum and Gardens is an awe inspiring place filled with art, sculpture, & architecture that is over 100 years old. I felt like a little kid as I explored every inch of the property, finding amazing things everywhere I looked.

I highly recomend visiting & exploring this wonderful Miami landmark if you can. It’s a great cheap way to entertain yourself for a bit, helping you escape city life, if only for a couple hours. Check out the Viscaya Museum website for more info.

Here are a couple photos I took:
